Can you introduce yourself and describe your journey as a music producer and artist?
I'm Petyo Enchev from Bulgaria. I have been a DJ and producer for 15 years under the name Peppou. JAFFAR THE NIGHTMARE is my new alter ego for Afro House and Tribal.
What sparked your interest in music production, and how did you begin?
I've been a producer for a long time, having started in 2015. I chose to produce music to enhance my skills as an artist, and since then, I have fallen in love with creating music! It's a great way to express myself, not just from behind the DJ booth.
Where do you find your inspiration, and who or what has influenced your music style?
I find inspiration in everything and everyone in my life; every little thing can spark creativity, whether it's good or bad. The first people who motivated me to start my new project, "JAFFAR THE NIGHTMARE " are my friends and my team from EXE CLUB!
What message do you hope your music conveys to your audience?
I hope my music resonates with people, providing them with a more emotional experience and a trippy vibe as they dance to my beats.
What are your plans as a producer? Can you give us a sneak peek at your upcoming releases?
My plans as a producer are to keep creating music without limits! I have signed releases for the KATUN label by Diass & Red Cercle. Additionally, the track “Anzhela,” with which I won the Round 02 of the Make It competition, will be released under my ORIGIN label. I also have several collaborations and unsigned tracks that I will start sending to labels now.
What’s your preferred DAW and favorite plugin?
I'm currently working with Ableton, and my favorite plugin right now is Serum 2.
Do you have any go-to techniques or essential tools/plugins you often use in your productions?
Yes, I have! I'm using the new Push 3 by Ableton, a MIDI keyboard, and a few plugins that I use every time.
Can you walk us through the making of your winning track? What was the vision behind it?
My track “Anzhela” is named after my girlfriend, Anzhela. The vision for the track is to create a lively yet deep vibe, reflecting both the vocal style and the strong, dark beat that will make you want to dance. The main goal is to make her happy with the final result!
What advice would you give to producers entering future competitions?
My advice to new producers is to create what they love and reflect who they are, rather than strictly following trends. They can incorporate trends but should do so with their unique signature and style.
If you could collaborate with any EDM artist, who would it be and why?
If I can collaborate with artists like Anyma, Innellea, and Raxon, it would be a pleasure because they have inspired me for several years!
